I have a 98 honda accord hatchback. Whenever I switch gears, it makes this squealing sound. Especially when I accelerate and I am about to stop. It sounds like metal to metal. I thought it was the belt, but had it repair and it still makes the squealing sound? Any help?
Edit: I meant to say a 98 honda CIVIC hatch, not an accord! I was thinking of my other car!
Some cars, when they are shifting gears while accellerating, right as the car shifts gears it makes a “tssss” sound, like a valve releasing pressure. i was wondering what causes that sound and what effects that device has on the cars performance?
It’s a 1997 Saturn, and it has been running well up until now (125k). The last few days, it makes a whistling/whining sound when I go from an idle to higher speeds, and also when I reduce to a lower speed. This sound usually occurs around 10 mph, never at speeds higher than 30, and rarely when idle. I know it does not have to do with the breaks. Is it engine or transmission? Please help, thanks.
my car makes this buzzing sound as i pull up to a stop, and i think it must be around the lower gears if not just 1st gear or 1st to 2nd.
it vibrates a bit also while it buzzes.
Also, i tried this while i was in my driveway, if i switch from park to drive or drive to reverse or to neutral or anything, while it’s switching it buzzes, and vibrates the car.
When I’m driving it feels like the gas isn’t getting into the car and it shakes and makes a stalling noise. Especially when I accelerate. The car is 8 years old and some pople have told me to get the transmission oil checked or to get a full tune up. But I don’t want to pay all that money for something thats might not fix the problem. I would really appreciate some input on this. Thanks. Oh, and the car is a mercury grand marqis, V8, and its automatic? ( I don’t have to change gears, just put it in drive).
I drive a 99 Mazada Millennia S. Every since I bottomed out going over a railroad crossing, my car has been making the aforementioned sound while accelerating until the automatic transmission changes gears, until I try to speed up again which is when it will return. I haven’t noticed that the preformance is any different than before but I only started driving it a few days before hand. I tried to add more oil and it didn’t seem to help. The engine is supercharged if that means anything. I’m sorry if I’m being vauge but I am a novice when it comes to cars.
On other thing that might be of note: This only occurs when my car is in drive. When it is in neutral or in park, when I rev the engine the sound does not occur. Also for those who have a gues to what might be wrong, how much might I be looking at for the repairs. Thanks to all on those who help.
