I have a 92 Saturn and while I’m driving it, the A/C works fine but as soon as I stop, there is a noise coming from the front of the car that sounds like a constant flutter and the car vibrates. Also when I’m stopped, the A/C isn’t cold. I also have a 99 Honda Civic and as long as I’m driving at least 40 or so mph the A/C works fine but once I stop, the car makes a noise that is somewhat like ka thunk, ka thunk, ka thunk one right after the other. It stops making the noise as soon as I start driving again or if I give it some gas. This car doesn’t vibrate though but as long as I’m stopped, it makes the noise and the A/C isn’t cold until I drive again. What in the world could be wrong with my cars? Thanks for any answers.
I just wanted to add that I bought the honda not too long ago from my friend. She said that a mechanic told her that the “A/C modulator chip” needed to be replaced. When I spoke to my father who is also a mechanic he said that the part doesn’t exist. Does anyone know if it does or not? My father doesn’t live near by or I’d let him look at the car.
I wanted to also add that I don’t think I need to check those things because it drives just fine. Neither car has any problems until I actually stop. Even the honda doesn’t make any noise until I stop the car and let off of the gas
