In the past I guess the Korean makes like Kia and Hyundai, but that’s changed recently. And if you want to know the truth the most unreliable cars on the road tend to be the more expensive ones (like Mercedes) since they have so many gadgets and stuff that could malfunction.
Guys you need to read more carefully I wasn’t making a generalization specifically about Mercedes cars! All I’m saying is there are plenty of high-end cars out there that are surprisingly unreliable (the Infiniti QX56 I owned briefly which had like a million problems is such an example).
what i think is if you hear the names of mercedes, bmw, lexus, audi first thing that comes to head is that they are expensive because of what you see when it drives by and you dont see them AS much as you would with holden and ford etc
cheap ones are mostly toyota ford holden and you see it in the price tag
but they can make expensive looking cars as well but you dont pay much compared to mercedes
what do you think of this fine looking stunner?
@monkey= mercedes are not unreliable! we have one and works so fine i find it a really safe car
I have to agree with Monkey. The high end MB, BMWs etc are so expensive to repair that any malfunction requires a new mortgage on the house. I would not want a bottom of the line of any of the manufacturers except maybe Toyota. Stick with middle line on most of the manufacturers and you will be better off.
worst cars or cheaply made
The Daewoo don’t buy even if they pay you to own it!!!
Chevy Vega
Dodge Viper
Jaguar; XK series
Jeep Commander
Pontiac G5
more expensive cars require more maintenance. but it does NOT mean they’re not reliable. i haven’t had a single problem with a jag or benz until after 6 years of driving it. but i have to say, maintaining them once their time has come to start changing parts/service, it gets pricey.
cheapest suv ever made and overly priced for its “crappiness” is the escalade!! also, hummers, once they reach 50k miles, expect to spend a good 800 bucks to service it every months.
Amongst the cheap/unreliable brands and models you have:
any Lada
any Yugo
any Fiat
Hyundai Pony
Hyundai Stellar
Hyundai Excel
any Kia made prior to the last 3 years
any Daewoo made prior to the GM takeover (they are now sold as Chevrolet)
Chevrolet Lumina
Chrysler Sebring
Dodge Avenger
Dodge Caliber
Ford Escort
Pontiac GrandAm
Aston Martin (very expensive, but laughingly unreliable)
Range Rover (very expensive and very unreliable)
I have to strongly disagree with @monkey: we own 2 M-B and they are certainly not unreliable neither do repairs require a 2nd mortgage. I really don’t think this person speaks from personal experience…
Alfa Romeos have a bad reputation for unreliability. old Korean cars had bad reliability, and Chrysler has the most production problems with their cars even in modern times.
Kia, Hyundai, Ford made cars, GM made cars, Chrysler made cars.
Some of these have improved greatly and are not bad cars anymore, but they still have the reputation because of their history.
